John is a volunteer and new trustee for the Society. He came to the Island fifty years ago to work in engineering at British Hovercraft Corporation (now GKN), from where he retired seven years ago. Since retiring he has passed his PCV driving license which enables him to drive the Community Buses. He also volunteers with the local Police Authority.
Two years ago John was asked to assist with clearing the gardens around Millbrooke House and, a little later, he then volunteered as an additional minibus driver and escort for the Society's minibus, transporting clients to various events such as the Dolphins Swimming Group, the Owls and the Knitters & Natterers. He enjoys meeting up with clients and learning about the help that is available to them.
Last year he was asked by the CEO whether he would be interested in being considered as a trustee and board member of the Society and, since January 2016, he has been happy to undertake both roles.
