Southern Vectis has announced that it will be operating the Helping Hand Scheme on its buses.   Helping Hand is an award-winning scheme which allows the holder to discreetly and directly advise of any assistance they may require via information cards. The card holds a brief written instruction for the driver that can be shown upon boarding the bus, such as, ‘please call out my stop’ for buses without audio announcements. The driver is made aware of the customer's needs or requirements without the customer having to verbally communicate it. The service user led scheme is now being used off the bus as well; in taxis, shops and leisure establishments like the cinema. If you or someone you know would benefit from using one of these cards, please call 0330 0539182 or visit www.buses.co.uk/helpinghand
