SOCIETY RECEIVES CHEQUE FROM BISHOP'S LENT APPEAL

Posted in on

Tim Morris (Centre Administrator) and Ruth Hollingshead (Trustee), on behalf of the Isle of Wight Society for the Blind, attended Choral Evensong at Portsmouth Cathedral on Sunday 20th November 2016, where they received a cheque for £2,000.00 from the Bishop’s Lent Appeal.

People from churches across the Portsmouth Diocese donate money to support the Appeal which the Bishop then donates to selected charities from within the Diocese of Portsmouth. The Isle of Wight Society for the Blind was lucky to be selected as a recipient of this year’s Appeal. Tim and Ruth attended Evensong where the Bishop praised the work of the charities in his sermon, saying that it was a privilege to be able to support the work of local charities and praised the work of each of the charities represented.

After Evensong had finished there was a reception where the cheques were presented.  This was a fantastic occasion and the Society was honoured to be selected.
