A picture of the Needles, on the Isle of Wight

Sight for Wight is the working name of one of the Island’s oldest charities, the Isle of Wight Society for the Blind, established in 1895.

Sight for Wight is principally funded by donations and legacies, fundraising events and activities organised by many Island groups and individuals and Sight for Wight. Grant support for voluntary activities is sought where possible. We seek to raise income from hiring out meeting room space and leasing spare offices at our administrative base, Millbrooke House. We also receive income from profits generated by Dress for Less.

With a small core of employees, the valuable support and services offered to visually impaired Islanders by Sight for Wight are only made possible with the generous support of the 100 volunteers who give up their time in many different roles. For more information about our volunteers and volunteering please visit our how to volunteer page.

Sight for Wight has been helped by many volunteers who give up their time to visit visually impaired people in their own homes, as well as to help with the various activities that Sight for Wight provides.

Sight for Wight established a trading arm, Millbrooke Enterprises CIC, in January 2016 with the aim of raising funding through trading. It is a Community Interest Company with one shareholder, SFW. Its community of interest is the visually impaired community of the Isle of Wight. There is currently one entity housed within Millbrooke Enterprises CIC, the dress agency, Dress for Less.
