The Sight for Wight office opening times will be changing from Monday 18th June. The office will be staffed Monday to Thursday 9.00am till 4.30pm and Friday 9.00 till 4.00pm.  

The next Freshwater book group for the visually impaired will be held on Tuesday 26th June at 11.00am in Freshwater Library. This friendly group meets once a month to discuss the previous month’s book, receive copies of the next book and enjoy refreshments. If you would like to attend please go along to Freshwater library on the 26th June at 11.00 am. The group lasts about an hour.  

The Isle of Wight Fellowship Meeting will be held at Bethany Evangelical Church, Union Street, Newport on Saturday 30th June at 3.00pm. The speaker this month is Mr Richard Salmon. There will be hymns, a quiz, story reading, and a short Christian message, followed by tea. A collection is taken from which donations are made to the Torch Trust for the Blind. Hymn books and scripture are available in large print and Braille. For further details please contact Jackie Moore on 520797.  

The Millbrooke House coffee morning on Wednesday 4th July will be joined by the Isle of Wight Macular Group for their monthly meeting, as well as Jenny Ball who will be hosting the Macular Society coffee morning as part of Macular week. Fresh cakes will be available and all are welcome.

The RNIB will be delivering another Living with Sight Loss course on Friday 6th July at the Riverside Centre in Newport. The course runs from 10.00am till 3.15pm and covers local and national support services, emotional and physical wellbeing, making the most of your vision, getting out and about safely and confidently, reading and information solutions. The course is for anyone affected by sight loss, including those who have lived with it for a while. Partners, carers and friends are welcome. Refreshments, including a sandwich lunch, are provided. Local volunteers from the Guide Dogs Charity will be visiting a number of venues over the next few months talking about the work of the Charity and how you can be involved. They will be at Sandown Library on the 23rd June, Ryde Library on the 21st July and Ventnor Library on the 18th August. All the library venue times will be 10.30am till 2.30pm. You can also find them at the Isle of Wight Community Club Open Day at Park Road in Cowes on August 27th from 12 noon onwards.
