TUESDAY 23RD APRIL
The swimming group are swimming at the Waterside Pool in Ryde. The pool is closed to the public whilst the group swims. There are male and female volunteers to help you get in and out of the pool as well as Lifeguards to ensure your safety. To join the Swimming group, please call the Society first to notify us of your swimming ability. With registering with us first you will not be able to swim with the group.
WEDNESDAY 24TH APRIL
The weekly coffee morning will be held at Millbrooke House this week from 10.30am. There will also be our Low Vision drop in between 10.00 am and 12 noon, a weekly event to allow you to view and try the Low Vision equipment we have at the Society without the need for an appointment.
We will be swimming at the Special Care Session held at West Wight Sports Centre in Freshwater. The session runs from 12 noon till 1.00pm. The cost to swim is £4.20. Minibus transport may be available depending on location and costs £2.00. If you are interested in joining the group then we will need to ask some questions about your swimming ability, general health, and mobility and next of kin details. Numbers are restricted for this session so please register your interest early.
THURSDAY 25TH APRIL
The Thursday Social Group are meeting at Millbrooke House. The group meets from 10.30am till 2.00pm. You can knit or just have a chat, then later in the afternoon volunteers come in and read to the group from different topics.
FRIDAY 26TH APRIL
The Striders group will be meeting for a walk from Wroxall to Ventnor and lunch afterwards will be at the Spyglass Inn. If you would like to join the Striders group then please contact the society on 522205 or email email@example.com

The Fellowship for the Visually Impaired will be meeting at Bethany Evangelical Church on Saturday 27th April at 3pm. The speaker will be Mr Andy Attrill who will give a short Christian message. Activities include, hymns, quiz and story reading followed by tea. NB a collection is taken from which donations are made to the Torch Trust for the Blind. Southern Vectis have advised us of some ‘time limited’ changes to the following bus routes:
From 8am on 11th April until 5pm on 17th May, routes 2, 3 and 8 which normally operate from Fitzroy Street, Sandown, will operate from The Broadway right into Station Avenue.
Until 6pm on 24th April, routes 2, 3 and 8, will have the following alterations. Towards Ryde route will be St Johns Road, Green Street, West Street, Lind Street to Union Street. From Ryde route will be Esplanade, Dover Street, Woods Street to Monkton Street.
Two new coffee mornings will be starting in Ryde and Cowes. On the last Tuesday of each month beginning on 30th April we will meet in Costa Coffee, High Street Ryde from 10.30am-11.45am. On the first Thursday of each month beginning on 2nd May we will meet at Costa Coffee, High Street, Cowes from 10.30am – 11.45am. Refreshments are available to purchase direct from the Coffee Shop. Our coffee mornings are run by staff and volunteers from Sight for Wight and are open to all. We hope to see you there.
The Audio Book group meets on the second Wednesday of each month at Lord Louis Library in Newport. We meet from 2.00pm for about an hour.
We discuss the last month’s book over a cup of tea or coffee, before handing out the book for the next month.
Books are available on CD or USB stick. There is no charge for this group for visually impaired people.
There is no transport available for this group, however, sighted guide assistance is available between the library and the bus station if requested in advance.
