At Sight for Wight (Isle of Wight Society for the Blind) we provide support for visually impaired people living with sight loss on the Island. We are seeking to appoint a new Befriending Volunteer Manager to lead and manage our members’ Befriending Service.

The Charity, based at Millbrooke House in Carisbrooke, has 7 staff, over 100 volunteers and operates both the main charity and our retail arm, Dress for Less. These are challenging times for charities so we are looking for an exceptional manager who can help us steer this new project forward promptly and with empathy.

The Befriending Volunteer Manager will:

  • Work closely with the CEO to develop, lead and manage this new initiative.
  • Manage volunteers on this program.
  • Promote the charity’s impact and profile.

We are looking for a person with a wide experience of managing volunteers and bringing forward a project from its outset. Someone who is innovative and is keen to use new technologies, as well as being effective and efficient. A strong empathy for people with visual impairment and proven commitment to service delivery on the Isle of Wight are vital.

With the salary details being given upon application, the role is 3 days per week on a 6 month fixed-term contract, which can be flexible if agreed with the CEO. Application is strictly by completing our Sight for Wight form. Please request this via email to ceo@iwsb.org.uk.

The closing date for receipt of completed applications is 5pm on Friday 23rd October 2020. Interviews will be held on 26th October 2020 and may be carried out online (subject to prevailing Government Advice).
