We were delighted to welcome our members back last Thursday (22nd July) and they were equally delighted to be back.

The weather was perfect as it was also a very special day to unveil a commemorative bench from the ‘Handicraft’ group and the ‘Strollers’ who kindly had a bench designed with a plaque that read, ‘In Loving Memory of Mel Barnes. A true friend to the Handicraft Group and Strollers. Rest in Peace. Mel’s brothers, Adrian and Ken, kindly came along for the unveiling.

Mel was a much loved volunteer who started helping out at Sight for Wight in 1996. Mel helped out with a variety of activities including holidays, maintenance, home visits, emergency transport, minibus driver and escort and more recently he supported the Striders and Strollers on many a walk around the Island and on the mainland. Mel will be much missed.

We are so pleased to have some normality back and look forward to the rest of the year with our members and volunteers.
