The 12th Annual General Meeting will take place at Millbrooke House at 10.30am. Coffee and pastries will be served from 9.30am. If you would like to attend please contact the charity on 522205
The Swimming Group are swimming at the Waterside Pool in Ryde from 8.00pm till 8.45pm. The pool is closed to the public whilst the group swims. There are male and female volunteers to help you get in and out of the pool as well as Lifeguards to ensure your safety. To join the Swimming Group, please call Sight for Wight first to notify us of your swimming ability. You need to register with the office at Millbrooke House first to be able to swim with the group.
Wednesday 27th November
The weekly coffee morning will be held at Millbrooke House this week from 10.00am till 11.30am.
There will also be our Low Vision drop in between 10.00 am and 12 noon. This is a weekly event to allow you to view and try the Low Vision equipment we have at Sight for Wight without the need for an appointment.
Thursday 28th November
Laura will be at the coffee morning at The Old Smithy Coffee Shop in Godshill between 10.30am and 11.45am. Our coffee mornings are run by staff and volunteers from Sight for Wight and are open to all.
Refreshments including delicious fresh cakes are available to purchase direct from the coffee shop.
This coffee morning which was a monthly event is now fortnightly.
The Thursday Social Group are meeting at Millbrooke House. The group meets from 10.30am till 2.00pm. With the help of volunteers, the group enjoy a number of activities, crosswords, catching up on news and trivia, knitting and crochet. They are currently making decorations for the Sight for Wight Christmas Tree, and continuing to make pompoms for the rug. This very friendly, mixed group also love to chat and enjoy lunch together. Later in the afternoon volunteers come in and read to the group on different topics. If you would like to join the group then please contact the Charity on 522205.
Friday 29th November

Saturday 30th November
We will be at the Shorwell Coffee Morning held at Shorwell Village Hall between 10am and 12 noon. Our stall will have Homemade cakes, Jigsaws, Books and Bric a Brac. Everyone is very welcome, please tell friends and family about this fundraising event. If anyone would like to donate a raffle prize or gifts for our Christmas stall please drop them into Millbrooke House, it will be very much appreciated.

Freshwater Library Listening Reading Group- this group usually meets on the second Tuesday of each month, but in December will meet on the first Tuesday December 3rd, from 11am – 12noon.

Please note that the suppliers of VIP diaries have now imposed a minimum number for orders that we place on your behalf, therefore we will place orders on the following dates: 25th November and a final order on Wednesday 3rd December.

Possible New Audio Book Group- “Alistair has run the Freshwater Library audio book group for many years and is now looking to start a new one at Sandown Library. If you would be interested in joining the group please contact Sandown Library on 402748 with your name and contact details and they will pass on your details to Alistair. Days and times to be arranged once we have an idea of interest.” Please note that this group is not run by Sight for Wight, we are just advertising on Alistair’s behalf.
Christmas Tree Decorations – If any member would like to make a Christmas Tree Decoration for our tree to be displayed at Brighstone Christmas tree festival in December, preferably in blue and gold colours but not essential, then please either drop them off at Millbrooke House or send in by the end of November.
The Members Christmas Lunch will be held on Thursday 19th December at the White Lion, Arreton. A 2 course meal will cost £19.95. Places must be booked and paid for in advance. We will be visiting the Isle of Wight Pearl on Monday 10th February. On this visit we will join the Pearl Masterclass; a free informative talk about pearls. The talk lasts about 30 minutes and there will also be an opportunity to look around the centre, or have refreshments in the café. There is no charge for the talk, but minibus may be available depending on location for a donation of £2.00. Closing date for applications is Monday 20th January. TV License Scam – we have been advised by one of our volunteers that this scam is saying that your TV License is running out and needs to be renewed, with a link to click to make payment. They also quote a license number, but on checking this is fictitious This has been checked with TV Licensing and is definitely a scam.
The Short Story Writing Competition Award Ceremony is on Monday 9th December at the Riverside Centre, Newport where the winners will be announced. Doors open at 6:30pm with the ceremony starting at 7pm so if you’d like to come along then please do so. It’s fun, it’s festive, it’s free! Melvyn Hayes will be promoting the ceremony later in the programme.
