My name is John Moore. I came to the Island over 50 years ago to work in engineering at British Hovercraft Corporation, now GKN.
In the ten years since retiring, I gained a PCV driving licence which enabled me to drive the community buses and also undertook voluntary work for the local Police Authority.
In 2014 I volunteered to assist in the garden at Millbrooke House and later driving the Society’s mini-bus, transporting members to various events.
In 2015 I was approached by the Society’s CEO as to whether I would be interested in becoming a Trustee which I was glad to accept and in 2016 became a Board Member.
Having had surgery on a damaged retina, twice, I have become more aware of the difficulties faced by people with sight impairment and the assistance the Society can offer Island residents.
